The Ethereal Skies

A surge of venom in your veins,

Pumping the immortal time

That knew not to surge backwards,

But life has its moments

Static and dynamic.

Captured,

Physical and dimensionless

You walk back to that pile

Full of memories

Painted on a piece of gloss paper

Processed in the dark room

Under the shades of red light.

An affable memory slips in,

The same old feeling of love

Flew from chilly winters into warm summers

The smiles pervaded on the sheet,

You flip one after another,

All reflections of past,

Rewritten in your memory.

An old friend makes his appearance

In those piles of photographs,

All those paeans of love and respect

Take over your thoughts,

Days pass,

His worth fades,

Mirth dilutes,

You look at the photograph,

Beneath those vivacious laughter,

Is the demise of long-lasting friendship.

As ethereal as the skies above,

Whose feinting depths are always overlooked.

———————————————————

A lonely world of yours willing to implode,

Step by step you reach the summit of a hill

An effervescent smile from the daffodils,

Blissful lilt of the leaves,

A silent caress of the southbound wind

A faint shimmer from a darker moon,

On the edge of the pass you stand,

Quaint fields welcomed for a leap,

So they did for millions of souls,

Whose blood was engraved on its sharp ridges,

All of them who weighed death over hope,

Their shrieks reminisced of madrigals,

Shrill personified!

—————————————————-

On this hill I spread my hands out,

Like an albatross’ beginning its migration,

A certain feeling of levitation,

A shadow of the future

Flickering in the head.

Suddenly, you look up at the sapphire skies

The stars felt like specks on ivy

You now are holding the kaleidoscope of nature,

Every pattern a new world unseen,

A new combination asking for a venture.

Time flies by…

—————————————————-

Dawn again,

So we fill thy skies with blood,

Thoughts cruise past the vapor trails

Into the vivid world of sleep

The dense clouds whispered of rain

You were still buried under the veils of ennui

So was your happiness

That pervaded into every heart in the past

It just faded,

Like the intensity of colors on the photographs.

All the smiles on those prints,

Hid the growing divide,

Neither can you curse your loneliness

Nor can you embrace a new world.

In the world of perception

A shallow pool can be made to look deep.

—————————————————–

Sailing past the ethereal skies

Clouds in a dense disguise,

You leave your trails on them

In search of joy,

Every drop that’s felt by your skin

Felt like an embrace of an old friend

Dropped from those ethereal skies…
